Society is constantly buzzing about the best ways to reduce your carbon footprint.

As a business owner, have you considered the impact of your organization's online footprint?

Most marketing gurus will declare that "social networking is the newest frontier in marketing."

They're firm believers that if your company isn't already active in social media, you are way behind the curve. For many companies, they believe there is a certain demographic (aka their clients and prospective clients) that wants to communicate through this medium, and if they don't participate, they could potentially lose opportunities.

The need for businesses to have an online foot print is important to reach the masses in today's competitive environment, however the potential loss of client data and security threats to your network can be daunting.

In a recent survey, 20 percent of companies polled had investigated the exposure of confidential, sensitive or private information via a post to a social networking site. Having a written Technology Acceptable Usage Policy in place is critical to any organization. This written policy should include a social media section that clearly identifies what is and is not acceptable.
